“Y” help out on Thanksgiving?

By Ben Campbell

thanksgiving-volunteers-featureBecause it’s a great way for us to connect with the communities we serve! Last month National Grid participated in a series of Thanksgiving volunteer events in Malden and Lowell, Massachusetts. Teams of company volunteers—thirty in total from across the organization–went to the Malden and Lowell YMCAs to pack lunches for pre-school children and their families. Another team went to a luncheon at the Lowell Boys & Girls club, where they prepared and served food to over 400 children.

“As teachers at the Greater Lowell YMCA we look forward to providing the children with a homemade traditional Thanksgiving lunch every year.  With the support and help from the National Grid volunteers you have made what is usually a busy and hectic day into a smooth and wonderful celebration.  We appreciate all of your help. Happy Holidays from the children and staff at the Greater Lowell YMCA!”  –Amanda Enos, Greater Lowell YMCA representative

“What a difference the National Grid volunteers made. We were grateful for their help setting up and cleaning up the room and our families were grateful for their kindness in serving a wonderful meal. Your help made this our best Thanksgiving lunch ever.” -Debbie Amaral, CEO, Malden YMCA

I love attending this event every year! It’s always such a positive, fun day at the Y. Thank you Grid for letting us help our communities with these types of volunteer spots!
