United Way Results – You Did It!

As they do every year, our employees came through – in a big way – to help neighbors in need through your United Way contributions. United Way is the company’s single biggest charitable giving program in the US and an integral part of our Power to Serve employee volunteer program. This year, through our 2014 United Way Campaign:Power to Serve logo

  • We’ve raised $1.65 million so far
  • About 5,000 employees generously pledged
  • And nearly 500 (or 10 percent) were new donors!


Last year’s total was $1.87 million, but we actually raised more per employee this year when you factor out the $225,000 associated with Long Island employees who transitioned to PSEG.

As you may know, this is the first year we administered the United Way campaign in-house. It was efficient, easier, and it saved us about $65,000 in administrative fees from previous years. That means every dollar employees contributed went right to work for United Way and our local communities – helping our friends and neighbors live safely and comfortably, and build better lives.

So we did very well. And we’re continuing to tally retiree pledges and the results of fundraising events (like 50/50 raffles). Stay tuned for more news on how each jurisdiction fared.
