Three cheers for energy efficiency!

MA, RI and NY named among top 10 energy efficient states; MA is number one!

As a proud partner in energy efficiency for many years in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island, we would like to congratulate these three states for their leadership. We also congratulate customers, communities, contractors and employees for their roles in helping the states rank first, third and sixth, respectively, among the most energy efficient states in the country. And MA is receiving its number one rating for the third year in a row!

The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) included these rankings in its seventh annual State Energy Efficiency Scorecard. The scorecard ranks all 50 states and the District of Columbia on their policies and programs that encourage the efficient use of energy in buildings, transportation and industry.

“We are proud to work hand-in-hand with all of the communities we serve to help improve the efficiency in how they use energy every day,” says Tom King, president, National Grid US. “We continue to see strong leadership across the states here in the northeast and are incredibly pleased to see those that we operate in ranked among the top 10 most energy efficient states.”

Speaking about National Grid, Tom says “Our company offers a wide range of programs that assist our residential and business customers in reducing energy use, encouraging them to do their part to promote a greener environment. The ACEEE Energy Efficiency Scorecard rankings are proof positive that these efforts are paying off. We’re working hard to keep our customers and communities at the top of this prestigious list.”

Solutions that drive benefits
National Grid’s energy efficiency efforts range from helping individual customers save energy to supporting the nation in its goal to double energy productivity by 2030 – a.k.a. The Energy 2030 Plan.

National Grid is playing a pivotal role in shaping the policies that make up this plan. As part of our commitment to Energy 2030, we’re dedicated to providing customers with energy efficiency solutions that will drive environmental and energy-saving benefits across the US.

See a recent Infonet News story for more on how we’re promoting energy productivity (the level of economic activity achieved using a given amount of energy). And see the sidebar of this article for some of the initiatives we’re providing to help customers across our service area and directly address Energy 2030’s goals.
