National Grid received a prestigious Stewardship Award for its energy efficiency program at the 2014 Platts Global Energy Awards held in New York City on December 11. Platts, a global energy and commodities information provider, recognized our commitment to comprehensive energy efficiency programs including:
- Our integrated approach to customer messaging – including social media, community partnerships and marketing campaigns.
- Our use of community-wide energy consumption trends – recognizing our smart grid Smart Energy Solutions project and our Strategic Energy Management Partnership (SEMP) program.
- Our ongoing commitment to upgrade equipment, reduce emissions and improve safety and network efficiency – looking at infrastructure upgrades such as increasing power plant turbine efficiency in our generation fleet in Long Island and our natural gas pipeline replacement program to reduce emissions.
We’re really proud of this accomplishment – especially because we’re focused on helping our customers to save money in this climate of higher winter bills through energy efficiency solutions.
Platts recognized National Grid from 250 nomination entries representing three dozen countries. Approximately 500 energy industry executives from around the globe attended the awards, honoring achievement in strategic vision, industry leadership, stewardship and innovative technologies.
