Sparks of recognition for CNY STEM support
National Grid had a big presence when Partners for Education & Business held its annual awards ceremony at Le Moyne College in Syracuse recently. PEB – a MACNY affiliate serving as the CNY STEM Hub Steward – named National Grid its P-TECH (Pathways in Technology) Business of the Year. PEB also gave Wally Dengos its Career Spark Award for his commitment to advancing STEM education and inspiring students to explore and prepare for rewarding careers.
“I do a lot of STEM work, and I understand the value of helping someone and seeing them grow,” said Wally, a PEB board member. “It’s enlightening to see students interested in their future and seeing themselves being successful.”
Along with Wally, Earl Barber, Patricia Bullis, Dave Melonson and Justin Okay also serve as mentors of PEB’s Syracuse P-TECH Program, providing encouragement and support to students pursuing technical fields. P-TECH offers a six-year integrated high school and college curriculum for grades 9–14.
