Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, NY establishes ‘A Day of Hope’
Southside hospital, located in Bay Shore New York, is in the center of the most vulnerable communities hardest hit by COVID-19. This includes Brentwood, Central Islip and Bay Shore towns.
“The healthcare professionals are facing challenges they have never seen before,” said Angela Mandelos, Community Outreach, Southside Hospital. “The Day of Hope was established to recognize all the incredible work these dedicated individuals are doing on our front lines.”
National Grid’s Customer and Community Manager Kathy Wisnewski connected with Angela at the perfect time to find out how National Grid could help.
“I reached out to Angela to see what we could do help in recognizing the hospital staff during this crisis. We wanted to do something to express our gratitude for what they’re doing in our communities,” said Kathy. “When Angela mentioned the ‘Day of Hope’ taking place on April 14 to recognize healthcare workers, it was the perfect fit for us to help sponsor the celebration. We wanted to show our appreciation as well.”
With that, Kathy worked with the local business, Subway in Bayshore, to provide 300 sandwiches for the well-deserved luncheon recognition that took place today.
“We’re so thankful to National Grid for their support in appreciating and recognizing the efforts of our healthcare providers. The staff has been working under extreme duress and challenging situations,” said Angela. ”The support of National Grid’s donation means so much to us and we’re grateful for their help.”
National Grid is committed to serving our communities in need. We salute our local hero’s during this challenging time!
