Shopping customers gain gas safety advice
Today we’re interviewing our second ‘Customer Delivery’ Chairman’s Awards finalist, finding out about their project and what it means to them to reach the final.
This category recognizes employees for positive or proactive approaches that lead to making sure that the customer is delighted by the service provided or enhances National Grid’s reputation for meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
Our second customer delivery finalist is the ‘Trafford Centre gas safety day’ from the UK.
Nicholas Jerman, Programme Manager, Gas Distribution Operations
What can you tell us about your project?
The project was an opportunity to engage with a high volume of our stakeholders and deliver a gas safety message. The first event was held at the Trafford Centre in Manchester, where members of the Gas Distribution Operations team provided gas safety advice to staff and retail unit owners, local authorities and, later in the day, the general public.
What does it mean to you to reach the final of the Chairman’s Awards?
Having the project recognized through the Chairman’s Award is an honor. And to be selected for the final from so many other great ideas and projects is a huge achievement. Many different teams within National Grid had to collaborate to bring this project together, and reaching the final of the awards confirms that the whole business really is behind the concept.
What are you most looking forward to about the awards ceremony?
The ceremony will be a great opportunity to meet many other National Grid employees from different areas of the business – all with great ideas and initiatives. It will be interesting to understand the journeys that all the other finalists have taken to achieve the finals and what impacts their projects have had.
