Shining a Light on Brooklyn

In recognition of the company’s commitment to a clean energy future, National Grid received the Barclays Center Cares Brooklyn Vanguard Award for Sustainability. The company was recognized for its commitment to advancing innovation and new technologies, helping customers reduce cost and operating more efficiently for a ‘greener’ future. Our Power to Serve employees volunteer thousands of hours each year with local community groups  and the company partners with schools to help engage young people in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

NY JDx President John Bruckner accepted the award on behalf of the company. The second annual Barclays Center Cares gala, “Shining a Light on Brooklyn,” was held at The Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood.

Barclays Center Cares brings together all of Barclays Center’s franchises to support the local community in four areas – culinary arts, sports, sustainability and music education. Together they work with schools, food pantries, homeless shelters, health facilities and nonprofits to support children and families through various activities including renovating basketball courts, improving literacy in schools, feeding the hungry and bringing smiles to young hospital patients.

Employees from various departments including Stakeholder Engagement/Brand Management, NY JDx Customer & Community Management, DNY Communications, NY Performance & Strategy and Business Planning & Performance, joined in the evening to honor distinguished leaders for their work in the Brooklyn community.
