Selfies for Energy Efficiency

By Dan Pieroni

In an ongoing effort to promote the importance of energy efficiency throughout the company, we recently implemented an Energy Efficiency Selfie Contest.

The contest was the brainchild of Kate-Ringe-Welch, Manager of Product Marketing.

Kate said that she was inspired to create this contest because selfies are an “it” thing in today’s culture.  It was a good way to promote employee engagement. Most importantly, it would enable employees to be brand ambassadors by participating in EE programs.

Employees were encouraged to take a selfie in the field, office or at home that incorporated energy efficiency tips which were shared with employees.

Contestants were judged in two categories, most meaningful and most creative with fellow workers voting for their favorite.

Kate believes that in order for a message to stand out it has to be meaningful conveying something that people can learn from. Likewise, entrees should be exciting and highlight ways to be more energy efficient

Over 240 entrees were received, with 400 votes cast.

Kevin O’Leary, a representative in Customer Connections NE in Waltham, and Robert Muller, a Senior Sales Representative in Channel Services out of Albany won the most creative and most meaningful contests, respectively.
