Whether you participated as an individual or with your team, every National Grid organization helped to make the March 3 Safety Leadership Day a success. In addition, more than 100 employees volunteered to help out with the day’s events including our “Hold the Handrail” activity in MetroTech, Res Woods and Syracuse.  These “safety ambassadors” were stationed at select stairwells to thank employees for holding the handrails for safety.  Over 1000 mini hand sanitizers were given away during that event.

Volunteer spotters were also out and about at 8 company locations for our “Back-in Challenge.”  In the end, Buffalo employees came out on top having had 100% of the vehicles backed-in for safety. Here’s how things shaped up for our other participating locations:

  • North Andover  – 99% backed-in
  • Melville  – 97% backed-in
  • Res Woods – 90% backed-in
  • Albany  – 86% backed-in
  • Providence Melrose St.  – 81% backed-in
  • Syracuse Erie Blvd.  – 67% backed-in
  • Northboro  – 64% backed-in

Employees also rose to our “Nutritional Challenge” by hosting a “Nutritional Pot Luck” lunch for their teams or by simply bringing in nutritional snacks and recipes to share.
