New Smartphone App Featured on RI News Station

By Darlene Masse

Mike McCallan, Vice President of Emergency Planning for National Grid, recently spoke to Rhode Island’s local NBC TV affiliate about our new smartphone app that is improving our collaboration with first responders.

This new app, the first of its kind in the nation developed specifically for emergency responders, gives us a better sense of what is happening in the field, so we can respond accordingly.

Emergency responders are encouraged to download the app and can use it to send in pictures of incidents in the field. It doesn’t replace our existing emergency reporting procedures. It just augments them. A picture gives us a more complete context of what is happening before we arrive on scene.
