By David Bertola

April Lucey of the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County presented Mark Slowik with one of its grand prizes on Jan. 16.

Mark Slowik went to work on Jan. 16 as a Buffalo sports fan.

He went home that day as a Buffalo Bills season ticket holder.

Slowik is a communication tester in National Grid’s telecom operations department. His name was chosen from approximately 35,000 United Way donors who pledged at least $1 a week and who were eligible to win one of 17 grand prizes, which are donated annually by area businesses as incentives to donate.

On the 16th, United Way staff presented the prizes to Mark, who also received passes to Buffalo Bisons home games. The Bisons are the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.
