National Grid transfers 75 acres of land to Burrillville Land Trust
On Nov. 7 the Burrillville Land Trust (BLT) hosted an event to celebrate the transfer of 75 acres of land that will be preserved as open space. National Grid transferred the land to the BLT as part of the Interstate Reliability Project. The transfer is part of approximately 176 acres of undeveloped land in Rhode Island and Massachusetts that has been permanently preserved to compensate for the unavoidable environmental impacts from the construction of the Interstate Reliability Project. The Interstate Reliability Project will help to improve reliability and performance of the power network in southern New England. Check out this great overview of the Interstate Reliability Project. The Burrillville Land Trust event also got great media coverage. Check out this one clip from WPRI as an example.
