National Grid celebrates excellence in internal communication

The Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) rolled out the red carpet for a team of National Grid colleagues from across the business at last week’s IoIC Awards 2014.

Four entries were recognised with Awards of Excellence, across eight different categories. And we took home the ultimate class winner prize in three of those categories.

Unprecedented, commemorating US employees’ experiences during Superstorm Sandy, came top of the class in two ‘Best use of writing or imagery’ subcategories. Connecting, our interactive online publication made it a hat trick of class wins by also taking home the top prize.

And we also received an Award of Excellence for Gridline, a quarterly magazine produced by Land and Development for our grantors.

Corporate Affairs employee Donald Johnson collected the class winner awards for Unprecedented and Connecting. He said, “This is terrific recognition for our employee communication teams, business stakeholders, and for our first class agency partners.

“National Grid is innovating with communication, and these awards show that we are improving how we engage with internal and external audiences.”
