Keeping the Faith During Challenging Times
We partnered with HeartShare Human Services to provide a special holiday meal for 700 staff and residents for 50 HeartShare group homes in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
In the spirit of faith, in observance of holiday tradition, HeartShare asked stakeholders to join them in offering its staff and individuals in their group homes a respite from the stress and disorder caused by the coronavirus crisis. HeartShare wanted to do something special for them on Sunday, April 12, by relieving them of the responsibility of making dinner and providing a special meal from Russo’s on the Bay, a catering facility in Queens.
We stepped up to make it happen. Russo’s prepared and delivered the special holiday meals.
“We are committed to helping our customers and communities through these challenging times and finding new ways to assist where we can. The opportunity to support HeartShare in providing nourishing meals for the residents and staff of their residential housing during this season of faith is another way support our communities and front-line workers,” said Melanie Littlejohn, Vice President Customer and Community for New York State.
National Grid has a long-standing partnership with HeartShare. For more than 30 years we’ve worked together to administer heating assistance programs for communities in need. HeartShare was our partner during Superstorm Sandy to administer our grants program for homeowners and businesses. They appreciated the support once again for this special initiative.
“During these tough and unprecedented times, HeartShare cannot thank National Grid enough for their generosity for the individuals we serve and the heroes who care for them. The over 700 holiday meals that National Grid will provide will mean so much to nourish and lift their spirits,” said William Guarinello, President and CEO, HeartShare.
