It’s Your Life

Great Bon Jovi song, great Work and Life Matters event!

“We need more events like this,” said Karol Albano as she ‘stretched and flexed’ and consulted with an elder care attorney in the Hicksville cafeteria recently.

Procure to Pay’s Karol was one of hundreds of employees who participated in our Work and Life Matters (WLM) employee resource group’s It’s Your Life signature events.

Hicksville kicked off a series of five events across our US service area in April and May, the others in Canarsie, Northborough, Res Woods and Worcester. Each featured different guest speakers and topics, but the main theme was helping employees deal with issues like child care, elder care, stress reduction and even managing finances. Many also served healthy snacks. And, all WLM members received a free planner filled with inspiring pictures and quotes, designed to help manage their short- and long-term goals

“We came up with the ‘It’s Your Life’ theme based on WLM members’ feedback on what they’d like to  talk about and get more help with. Caring for others (and themselves) was what they came back with, so we ran with it,” said Field Ops Supervisor Martin Sobers, WLM chair.

Martin and WLM steering committee members – and participants – agree the group’s first events were a shining success, thanking event leads for pulling it all together at each location:  Cynthia Angulo, Paul DeZinna, Chris McGovern and Martin Sobers (Canarsie); Shandy Arroyo and Ellen Cooke (Hicksville); April Carlile (Northboro); Steve Parenteau and Michelle Park (Waltham); and, Adrian Hubley and Joan Madden (Worcester).

Meet the WLM steering committee: Cynthia Angulo, Ellen Cooke, Tracy Forde, Jesse Harvey, Caroline Hon, Kelly McGuirk, Rita Moran, Martin Sobers and Susan Washburn.

North Albany always seems to be left out of the many wonderful events that happen in Hicksville, Waltham and Northboro. We are starting to feel forgotten.
