Driving the American Red Cross towards success
We partnered with the American Red Cross to provide a disaster response vehicle which would deliver the Red Cross mission.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new vehicle was held earlier this month at our North Kingstown facility to welcome the new SUV into the Red Cross fleet of disaster response vehicles.
“We are grateful to National Grid for their generous donation to the Red Cross,” said Susan Roberts, Executive Director, Rhode Island Red Cross. “This new vehicle allows the Red Cross to be where we are needed, when we are needed.”
The new Chevy Traverse AWD will be vital in supporting service delivery and will enable the Red Cross to continually assist those in Rhode Island
The new vehicle will be used for disaster action team operations, including responding to home fires, preparedness activities including the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign and Pillowcase Project, disaster operations including large scale disaster response functions, volunteer recruitment and support activities, and general territory management and administrative support activities.
“Our community partnerships mean everything to us at National Grid,” said Bill Flaherty, director of Community and Customer Relations. “The Red Cross does crucially important work for our communities and we are happy to support their first responder efforts with this vehicle.”
We support Red Cross programs and disaster relief efforts across our US footprint.
