Gratitude is the Attitude for a Happy Holiday

By Jennifer Bray

City Year Providence celebrated National Grid as their Partner in Philanthropy (PIP) during the Association of Fundraising Professionals Rhode Island Chapter’s National Philanthropy Day event on November 19.

This annual celebration (held virtually this year) is an opportunity for non-profit organizations to honor a person or business which has furthered a non-profit’s mission through significant generosity, outstanding leadership, and exemplary volunteer contributions.

“We were so thrilled to be able to recognize National Grid as our Partner in Philanthropy because our relationship with National Grid is a true partnership, “ said Jennie Johnson, Executive Director, City Year Providence. “National Grid’s commitment to our community shines through in everything they do, from their financial support of our programs to their volunteer support. We wouldn’t be where we are today without National Grid.”

City Year provided a written tribute that appeared in the event’s digital program:

“Over the last two decades National Grid has generously donated nearly $1 million and countless volunteer hours to City Year Providence (CYPVD) to support programming that helps Providence students succeed. They have brought resources such as the Zoomobile, Paw Sox tickets, New England Aquarium visits and an astronaut to provide inspiring enrichment opportunities in our schools. Employee volunteers extend our efforts by reading to students, supporting STEM enrichment programs and reinforcing students’ social-emotional skill development. CYPVD is so grateful to have National Grid as a committed partner and champion.”
