WiN sponsored these exciting events in 2014:
- Spearheaded/co-sponsored WHAT A DISASTER: Preparing for Nature’s Worst! with Asset Strategy, Emergency Planning and the other National Grid employee resource groups (ERGs)
- Held two successful Women Empowered Programs– one in Res Woods, the other in Syracuse
- Celebrated its 10th birthday November 7 with guest speaker First Lady Diane Patrick, wife of former Gov. Deval Patrick, MA
- Raised awareness and funds for breast cancer research in October as part of annual Shine a Light on a Cure Campaign
- Hosted a VERA House White Ribbon Campaign lunch-and-learn session to create awareness on domestic violence. Ethics & Compliance’s Margaret Ireland shared the story of her sister, Elaine, brutally murdered as a result of domestic violence
- Participated in a Women’s Build Habitat for Humanity Project in Syracuse; partnered with YWCA(Upstate NY) and Dress for Success (DNY) for a Women to Work lunch-and-learn and clothing drives;held Meals on Wheels volunteer days; and collected dresses for young women through Long Island Volunteer Center’s (DNY) ‘Prom Boutique’
- Supported and participated in Junior Achievement (JA) teaching programs (DNY) and JA’s annual bowl-a-thon
- Sponsored the American Cancer Society’s (Boston Chapter) Women Leading the Way to Wellness Event, focused on women’s roles in early cancer prevention and detection; and hosted the Society’s St. Patrick’s Day dinner at the Boston Hope Lodge, where our executives served and dined with cancer patients and their families
- Partnered with Bentley University and Network Strategy to co-sponsor the Gearing Up Conference, focused on how women can promote themselves through effective communications and strategies
