Feeling the Pride in CNY

Syracuse celebrates in style with rainbow decked-out truck and building

As it has in years past, Syracuse in Central New York (CNY) showed its rainbow pride in support of LGBTQ Pride Month. This year, we drove our decked-out National Grid truck in the CNY Pride parade as well as lighting up our Erie Boulevard facility with a rainbow of colors.

Distribution Design’s Peter Bailey – member of IBEW Local 97 and our PrideUSA employee resource group (ERG) – “appreciated the opportunity to play a role, as I have in other Pride events.” He also enlisted the support of coworkers Customer Service Rep Therese Blum, who helped ‘bling out’ the truck, and Real Estate representative Pam Aspinall, who rode along with him.

Says Therese, “When I heard Peter was going to be driving the National Grid Truck, I was elated. Our company has been such a champion supporting the LGBTQ community and I can say I am very proud to work for such an awesome company. I walked in the parade with my wife and it was a great turn-out, and a peaceful and Happy Pride Day in Syracuse.”

And, PrideUSA co-chair John Rondeau sees this as springboard for much more involvement to come in the future: “I continue to be so proud of our growing membership in our Pride ERG – from all areas of the business and all regions. And we’re already excited about taking a bigger role in Central New York Pride events next year.”
