Ending the year with “New Hope”
As 2016 comes to a close, we tend to reflect on the past year and look forward to the next. An undeniably heartwarming story from this year was born out of a special holiday delivery by National Grid employees to a Worcester non-profit serving our local veterans.
On Tuesday, December 13, Amy Stacy, Kevin Shaughnessy, and Aleta Fazzone delivered 45 gifts to Project New Hope, an organization supporting veterans in their transition from duty to civilian life. Their “Adopt a Family” donation drive allowed people to sponsor veteran families during the holiday season.
Executive Director, and veteran, William (Bill) H. Moore welcomed the employees into the office amid hundreds of wrapped presents. He explained that Project New Hope collaborated with other family and veteran support organizations, identifying the veteran families that would benefit from the donation project. Bill enthusiastically thanked the National Grid employees for their participation and the group took a few photos together.
This story is another example of our people coming together for a worthy cause. In a “thank you” email to her fellow employees that donated gifts, Amy Stacy recalled a relevant saying. She quoted “you have not lived today until you’ve done something for someone who can never repay you.”
