Employees present Operation Stand Down with a donation of $3,250
Shortly after the Veterans Day holiday, National Grid employees presented Operation Stand Down with a donation of $3,250 to benefit homeless and at-risk veterans in Rhode Island. The donations were raised by employees during the Flag Day fundraising campaign held earlier this year. Erik Wallin, the executive director of Operation Stand Down (pictured center), accepted the donation on behalf of the organization and was grateful to National Grid and our employees for the support. He shared stories of the difference that Operation Stand Down has made in the lives of veterans. One story focused on a veteran who was living in a vehicle in Providence with his family. The veteran didn’t realize he was entitled to a military pension. Operation Stand Down helped the veteran apply for the benefits he was entitled to and ultimately turned the lives around of the veteran and his family. This is one of many examples of the help the organization has provided to veterans. Visit their site for more details on Operation Stand Down.
