Employees package food for local shelters

National Grid volunteersIn honor of National Volunteer Week (April 12-18), more than a dozen of our employees teamed up with the United Way of Central Massachusetts to package food for Outreach Inc. The national organization’s mission is to provide safe water, food, medical care and education to children and others in need. Volunteers packaged 10,000 pounds of food to be distributed to two of Worcester’s local shelters. Our local United Way branch was grateful for National Grid’s participation and said, “…the work you did last week will go far past the national initiative and continue to have a positive impact on the community, taking strides to diminish the prevalence of hunger.”

Thanks to all of the volunteers: Sonya Weagle, Robert Heron, Joe Berry, Jose R. Quinones, Elizabeth Cardarelli, John M. Perkins, Maria D. Rodriguez, Amanda Rodriguez, Milton A. Wright, Pamela J. Leavens, Teresa Dobson, Elizabeth Coleman, Van G. Berube Jr., Joan Madden, Amy Johnson and Mike Calstrom.
