Emergency response video makes its debut

By Tim Rondeau

We treated some of our Massachusetts first responders to a video debut.

On Friday, May 5, the Central/West MA Community & Customer Team held a screening of their new video for Municipal First Responders at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).  The short film is designed to educate our municipal officials on our emergency restoration plans during storms. It explains our Incident Command System (ICS), as well as our planning and preparation processes.  It also defines the priorities of the emergency calls we receive from police and fire.

The video project aims for convenience.  In years past, the MA Community & Customer team would hold in-person meetings to update emergency officials on our emergency response processes.  However, sometimes it is difficult for first responders to attend the meetings given their busy schedules.

“We wanted to make it easier for our municipal officials to learn about our emergency response plans, so we thought if they can’t make it to a meeting, we will bring the information to them,” said Aleta Fazzone, director of Community & Customer Management.  “We are always looking to make things simpler and more convenient for our community partners, especially when they are serving in their roles as first responders.”
