Earth Day 2016 #GridGoesGreen

Power-To-Serve-LogoEarth Day is a key Power to Serve campaign!

We need your help in supporting Earth Day, so sign up and come on out to a local event near you. Events have been announced in At-A-Glance under Local News, and you can also find them on the Power to Serve volunteer calendar here.

In addition to taking part in local volunteer events, this year from April 22 to May 31, we are inviting customers to enter the #GridGoesGreen sweepstakes for a chance to win a gift card. Our goal is to grow our communities on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, so we’re inviting people to tell us how they are helping their community save energy by using the hashtags #GridGoesGreen and #Sweeps on our National Grid US Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Sweepstakes rules and eligibility details will be promoted on our social channels as well.

Employee tweetTwo easy ways for employees to join the conversation:

  • Share your photos or videos from Earth Day volunteer activities on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and be sure to use the hashtag #GridGoesGreen and #PowerToServe
  • Tell us how you are helping the environment and your community by using the hashtag #GridGoesGreen in your social media posts for Earth Day and beyond

Please note: For legal purposes, employees of National Grid are not eligible to enter the #GridGoesGreen #Sweeps event, but friends and family are (as long as they are not National Grid employees). So, please encourage those you know to use the hashtags #GridGoesGreen and #Sweeps on National Grid’s US Facebook page, Twitter account and Instagram feed. All entries must include #Sweeps in addition to #GridGoesGreen to be eligible. You can follow the conversation that begins on Earth Day, Friday, April 22.

Note: If you’re planning to volunteer during your scheduled work hours, please just be sure to get your supervisor’s approval before-hand.

Power to Serve, which supports our ‘Customer and Community Responsibility’ Elevate ambition, seeks to acknowledge existing community service as well as to create new volunteer opportunities for employees.
