Community & Customer batting practice with Hanley Ramirez
As part of our partnership with the Boston Red Sox, National Grid sponsored ten Massachusetts Little League teams that had the opportunity to attend a Red Sox game at Fenway Park this season. One of the nominated teams was the Auburn Little League, who originally had their visit scheduled for May 25.
However, just three days prior to the team’s visit, tragedy befell Auburn as one of its police officers, Ronald Tarentino, succumbed to injuries sustained in a violent traffic stop. Out of respect for Officer Tarentino, his family and the Auburn and Leicester communities where Officer Tarentino lived and served, the Red Sox Foundation rescheduled the team’s visit to June 15. The Red Sox Foundation also provided additional tickets for the Community & Customer Management team to attend with the Auburn Little League.
On the day of the game, the Little League players and their coaches arrived at Fenway early to attend batting practice and enjoy a “Meet and Greet” on the field with Hanley Ramirez—who went on to hit a home run later that day.
The Community & Customer Management team had a thoroughly enjoyable time meeting the animated Little League players and coaches on Yawkey Way and spending time with them during batting practice and afterwards at the game. The coaches were thrilled with the opportunity to bring the players onto the field at Fenway to meet Hanley Ramirez and were grateful for the once in a lifetime experience they enjoyed with their players.
