Building US storm costs into our financial results

By Eva Lindegren

When the weather gets tough, it will always be our priority to maintain safe and reliable services for our customers and communities – and that is what we have done following the recent volume of storms and bad weather hitting the US.

However, these storm-support activities cost money and we have recently informed our investors that the US business has incurred major storm remediation costs of around $201 million (£140m).

For those that watch our stock closely, this means that in our Full Year results in May our earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the Group may be lower.

We expect to be able to recover these costs over time.
