Blood donations up in Downstate NY

Blood donation thank youEmployees have stepped up to the plate again. Together, with colleagues from PSEG-LI, they donated 5,421 pints for 2014, an almost 6 percent increase from 2013. Bob DeMarinis, VP of Gas Operations and Chairman of Blood Services for DNY, said: “Employees once again come through for friends, neighbors, community members who need the gift of life. Their efforts have made us one of the leading donor groups in the downstate New York region.” Three facilities had tremendous increases during the year: Brentwood – 63%; Hicksville – 34%; and Greenlawn – 20%. Karen Muscolino, Director of Donor Recruitment, Long Island Blood Services, said: “It’s just a phenomenal effort from National Grid and PSEG-LI employees. We typically don’t see this kind of increase year over year.”
