Back to School!

Hands Together NY volunteers help students in need start the year off right

htny-1There’s something satisfying about having a set of fresh notebooks and pencils, ready for the beginning of a new school year. It’s a great way to boost enthusiasm for the first day of classes and make you want to study hard. To help students in need get an equal start, this September Hands Together NY volunteers partnered with the Salvation Army to fill more than 200 backpacks with school supplies.  The backpacks were distributed to students to get them ready for school.

National Grid volunteers have been working with the Salvation Army at Riverhead for the past 10 years, through participating in Island Harvest food runs and buying gifts for children at the “Adopt a Child” event during the holidays.
