Appreciating Veterans through Volunteering

By Kathie Cornelius

group-shotWhile in Albany, New York for a team meeting last month, the Electric Process and Engineering team spent an afternoon helping out at the Veterans Miracle Center (VMC). The VMC is a goods and services resource that helps veterans and active military personnel and members of their immediate family find real solutions to urgent needs. The team of 81 volunteers inspected clothing and personal care items, and stocked warehouse shelves.

The team worked with our Veterans’ Employee Resource Group (VERG) to coordinate the volunteer project.  VERG develops awareness programs, development opportunities, networking and community involvement opportunities on behalf of, and for the benefit of employees who are former and current military.

“I am proud to give our time to organizations like the Veterans Miracle Center which is here for those who served or are serving our country, by providing free-of-charge, necessary items like clothing, personal care and hygiene products, housewares, furniture, toys, and so much more” said Chris Kelly, acting Senior Vice President of Electric Process and Engineering.  “Hundreds of veterans visit the VMC each year and benefit from its services. It’s the least we can do in return for what our veterans have given our country.”

Thank you for reaching out to VERG to coordinate this event. It looks like you had so much fun. Every veteran really appreciates your time and your kindness. Thank you!
